2024 Growing Season in Napa Valley
The 2024 growing season began with heavy winter rains which saturated the soil and laid the foundation for healthy vegetative growth. This winter rain was critical in preparing the vines to weather the multiple heat events, upwards of 100 degrees, over the summer months. With the soils charged with groundwater, the vines had the horsepower to produce healthy green shoots, shielding the fruit from any direct impact from the hot afternoon sun. The early Fall weather was remarkably balanced with a diurnal swing from warm days to cool nights giving the vines stable, persistent growth. We had the luxury of picking when the fruit was ready without any extreme weather events forcing the fruit to come off before it was at perfect ripeness.
